Parkinson’s, Alzheimer and Dementia Screen Test

The Parkinson’s, Alzheimer and Dementia Screen identifies variances in DNA with 47 genes screened for a predisposition toward Parkinson’s, Alzheimer and Dementia.

Dementia is a relatively common disease in people over the age of 60 and consists of cognitive and behavioral symptoms that interfere with usual activities. A genetic test can be valuable in establishing clinical diagnosis.

Alzheimer’s typically begins with subtle failure of memory that progresses over time until it becomes incapacitating. The disease is characterized by amyloid plaques and neurofibrillary tangles. Alzheimer’s can be familial which can be distinguished from non-familial Alzheimer’s by family history and molecular genetic testing.

Frontotemporal dementia (FTD) is another relatively common form of dementia. In contrast to Alzheimer’s disease it is more frequently seen in patients younger than 65 and may present as changes in behavior and personality or as language difficulties with several genes linked to FTD.

Parkinson disease typically consists of motor features such as tremor and muscle rigidity but can also include cognitive decline and dementia. Many cases of Parkinson are probably caused by multiple factors, including genetic and environmental.

Benefits of Testing

01. It can identify and manage hereditary conditions.

02. Provides valuable insights into unexplained symptoms.

03. Assess the risk of developing familial conditions.

Testing may be appropriate for patients with a
family history or symptoms indicating a genetic condition.
